Nate Diaz: The UFC icon makes his first appearance under MMA rules in nearly four years

Best known for his legendary rivalry with Conor McGregor under the UFC banner, Nate Diaz (21-13) remains one of the biggest names in combats sports despite a near four year hiatus from MMA competition. A former lightweight title challenger in the UFC, Diaz's bouts with McGregor turned him into a bona fide superstar, something that he's successfully parlayed into a number of lucrative opportunities following his departure from the UFC. Renowned for his high volume boxing game, elite submission game, and iron chin, Diaz retains status as one of the sport's most beloved names to this day.

Mike Perry: "Platinum" returns to the cage after a lucrative stint as BKFC's poster boy

Bowing out of the UFC with a 7-8 record, few could have predicted the bare-knuckle boxing renaissance of Mike Perry (14-8). "Platinum" would go on to become the face of BKFC with an undefeated 6-0 run, scoring victories over big names like Luke Rockhold, Eddie Alvarez, and Michael "Venom" Page along the way. Perry would even earn a huge boxing payday against Jake Paul, eventually losing to "The Problem Child" via sixth round TKO. An unashamed brawler throughout his MMA career, Perry is best known for his fight ending power and iron chin, with his limited grappling proving to be somewhat of an Achilles heel historically.

Nate Diaz vs Mike Perry prediction

As with all Diaz contests, this could descend into an absolute clown show. Diaz's last MMA fight saw him alternate between pop shotting Tony Ferguson at range and straight up disengaging from the fight when he ran out of interest, eventually submitting the completely shot "El Cucuy" with a guillotine.

Perry hasn't fought under MMA rules since 2021, but the man can crack; just ask any of his BKFC opponents. He isn't going to take his foot off the gas if Diaz suddenly decides he can't be bothered to participate in the fight or stare blankly at the Stockton native when he starts flipping him off; he's going to march forward and hurl bombs in the hope of separating Diaz from consciousness.

With that being said, "Platinum's" ground game left a lot to be desired even prior to him taking five years out of the cage; it's not out of the realms of possibility that Diaz wraps up an opportunistic choke if the action hits the floor. However, given his penchant for a brawl, I don't see Diaz relentlessly trying to force the fight there.

Diaz is renowned for his superhuman toughness and iron chin even at this stage of his career; I don't see Perry bombing him out cold. What's far more likely is that "Platinum" lands hard and often during the early stages of the fight, busting Diaz's scar tissue worn face open to eventually force a doctor's stoppage by TKO.

Prediction: Mike Perry to win by TKO
