Under the management of Sergio Lobera, Mohun Bagan won both the league table and then the playoffs last season and they have begun the defence of their title with back-to-back 2-0 victories against the Kerala Blasters and then against Chennaiyin.
Mohammedan, on the other hand, finished rock-bottom in the previous Indian Super League season and they have started poorly once again with a 1-0 loss to Jamshedpur before a 2-0 defeat to Goa in their most recent outing.
This one does appear to be a major mis-match and, especially with their home advantage, Mohun Bagan will be expected to come on top quite comfortably.
