NATE DIAZ VS TONY FERGUSON LOWDOWN
After being scheduled to face Khamzat Chimaev until he weighed in significantly overweight, Nate Diaz (20-13) now faces veteran Tony Ferguson (25-7) who steps in for a clash that has been years in the making.
There is little doubt that this matchup is much more favourable to Diaz than it would have been against Chimaev and it will arguably be a better fight for the fans too. With both fighters in the twilight of their MMA careers, expect both of them to leave everything on the line and put on a spectacular show.

Both of these fighters have seen a decline in performances in the last few years and it is fitting that in what is likely Diaz’s final fight in the UFC, he now faces off against a fighter at a similar stage in his career in Ferguson.
While Tony Ferguson continues to talk a good fight, his four-fight losing streak and the manner of the knockout he suffered at the hands of Michael Chandler last time out was particularly concerning for the 38-year-old. That was only his second knockout loss although it is hard to see Diaz threatening that here.
Both fighters remain durable and it’s a fascinating matchup in so many ways. The marginal edge in power goes to Ferguson but it is hard to make a case for either fighter winning by KO or any kind of stoppage here. Diaz’s stamina and durability is legendary and with a back and forth bout waiting in store, the favoured play here is on this fight going the distance.
