GILBERT BURNS VS SEAN BRADY LOWDOWN
Gilbert Burns currently sits sixth in the welterweight division and after back-to-back losses at the hands of Belal Muhammad at UFC 288 and then Jack Della Maddalena at UFC 299, he looks to get back on track here. Burns has a 22-7 record and has been fighting at the highest level for the last five years with some incredible names on her resume.
Burns has wins over Gunnar Nelson, Demian Maia, Tyron Woodley, Stephen Thompson, Neil Magny and Jorge Masvidal during that time that reads like a who’s who. The list of defeats also does with the only losses in the last five years in addition to the aforementioned two, coming against Kamaru Usman and Khamzat Chimaev.
Burns has been operating at a high level for a long time and while he has lost successive bouts for the first time in his career, he has responded well when losing before.
He meets Sean Brady who has a sensational 16-1 record heading into this fight. The Philadelphia native bounced back from the only loss of his career at the hands of Belal Muhammad in October 2022 with a submission win over Kelvin Gastelum in his last bout in December.
His record looks impressive but it does not contain nowhere near the quality that Burns’ does. He has also been inactive due to injuries which is another concern as he faces a tough fight against Burns.
GILBERT BURNS VS SEAN BRADY PREDICTION
This main event should be a highly entertaining match-up and we are favouring Gilbert Burns to win this. The Brazilian may have lost his last two but his pride and desperation to remain relevant should see him come in super focused.
Brady has an impressive record on paper but we do not think that merits him coming into this match as favourite. Brady’s best route to victory will be outlasting Burns and that would be a concern in a five-rounder but otherwise, we just like Burns and his greater options to get the win.
PREDICTION: Gilbert Burns to win
