Perennial Moldovan champions Sheriff Tiraspol managed to go through the entirety of last season unbeaten, but succumbed to finishing as runners’ up behind Milsami Orhei. Milsami began their European campaign with a defeat to Finnish champions Kuopion Palloseura in the UEFA Champions League first qualifying round, before defeating Buducnost Podgorica in the second qualifying round of this competition.
They now face a Virtus side that were hammered 4-1 on aggregate by Zrinjski Mostar in the first qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League, before being given a bye in this competition in the previous round.
Milsami, with their home advantage, are expected to come out on top as the overwhelmin favourites for this one against their Sammarinese minnow opposition.
