The first-leg of this UEFA Europa League third qualifying round tie between two Scandinavian clubs at the Nye Fredrikstad Stadion in Norway last week, Midtjylland defeated Fredrikstad by three goals to one. The in-demand Francisco Dju opened the scoring after 14 minutes before Mikel Gogorza doubled their lead mid-way through the first-half. Joannes Bjartalid brought a goal back for the Norwegians before Denil Castillo wrapped up a first-leg advantage for the Danish outfit.
Midtjylland are expected to be in the league phase of a UEFA competition this season, but they were underwhelming in a scrappy win against Hibernian last month.
