It certainly wasn't vintage Michael van Gerwen in the first round, with the Dutchman averaging just 90.82 in his 3-1 win over Japanese hope Mitsuhiko Tatsunami.
Indeed, the contest could have turned out entirely different had Tatsunami not missed his doubles at crucial moments, and Van Gerwen's performance was certainly not one that will have struck fear into the field.
That is just one of the reasons why William O'Connor is fancied by many to eliminated the three-time world champion here.
