Michael van Gerwen vs Gary Anderson prediction
Michael van Gerwen showed flashes of his best darts, especially towards the end of the match, in his 4-1 victory over Arno Merk in the third round.
The three-time world champion boasted a checkout percentage of 50% and a three-dart average of 99.70 in his win against the German qualifier.
MVG will take on another multiple world title winner, with Gary Anderson registering a tournament high of 14 180s in his thrilling 4-3 triumph over a stubborn Jermaine Wattimena.
Anderson has proven that he can still mix it with the best in this event, and has averaged over 100 for the tournament overall.
These two have shared some memorable contests over the years, but have only met twice at Alexandra Palace with Van Gerwen prevailing in both 2017 and 2018.
Expect plenty of maximums here in what is likely to be a fast-paced treat for the Ally Pally crowd. Anderson, though, has had the edge in that department recently and we're backing 'The Flying Scotsman' to edge through while hitting more 180s.
