Metz vs Auxerre prediction

Having gained promotion to the top-flight last season, Metz begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting in the bottom two and the automatic relegation places. They did manage to earn themselves a hard-fought goalless draw with an out of form Lille side last weekend.

Auxerre begin the match day sitting in the relegation playoff place, just a point ahead of Metz and above Nantes on goal difference. Auxerre have themselves battened down the hatches of late with back-to-back goalless draws against Toulouse, away from home, and then at home to Paris.

These are two of the very weakest teams in the top five leagues in European football and neither lack quality or ammunition in the final third, so a low-scoring encounter is to be expected here.

Metz vs Auxerre tip: Under 2.5 goals
