Melbourne City remain the closest challenger to Auckland at the top-of-the-table in the Australian A League as the Victorians take on a frustrated Adelaide United side this weekend.

Melbourne City vs Adelaide United prediction

Coached by Aurelio Vidmar, Melbourne City come into this one on the back of an entertaining 2-2 draw with a strong and in-form Western Sydney Wanderers side at the CommBank Stadium in a game in which City fought back from 2-0 down to earn a point to back up three successive victories in the A League.

They now face an Adelaide United side that had spent most of the campaign sitting towards the top end of the table, challenging Auckland for the regular season title but the South Australians have collapsed in recent months with their 1-1 draw against Brisbane Roar in midweek means they have now managed just one win in their last ten matches.

Melbourne City haven’t been overly convincing at times this season but they are in good form and, with their home advantage, will be expected to defeat Adelaide in Victoria this weekend.
