This has all the makings of a grudge match from across the pond. Canada’s Matt Campbell and Adam Sevada of the USA. The ‘Ginger Ninja’ from Hamilton is making his seventh appearance at the World Darts Championship where the furthest he’s reached has been the third round following four consecutive first round exits. Last year, he fell in straight sets to Ryan Searle in the second round.
Campbell is a back-to-back North American Championship winner but the current CDC top ranked American is Adam Sevada, who is set to make his Ally Pally debut. Playing on the CDC pro tour means that we rarely see Sevada against seasoned PDC veterans, so he represents somewhat of a wildcard in this tournament. But Campbell will enter this one as favourite.
Darts fans from both Canada and USA will be watching this one with interest. Sevada is inconsistent but capable of some big numbers when at his best. Despite this, Campbell has to be favoured even though it would be no surprise if he wound up dropping at least one set.
