Stephen Burton is one of the tournament’s last-minute qualifiers and is making his third Ally Pally appearance, after losing both his previous encounters at this tournament by three sets to nil against Ryan Searle and Alexander Merkx respectively. He’s got his work cut out to win his first Ally Pally leg this time around when taking into account the form of his opponent.
Martin Schindler sits at number 13 in the PDC World Rankings and is currently the top ranked of all Germans competing at this year’s World Darts Championship. It’s been a fantastic year for Schindler, winner of the Austrian Darts Open and a World Cup of Darts semi-finalist. He was beaten by Burton in their most recent contest back in 2022, but Schindler is a significant better player compared to back then.
