Marseille preview: Beye’s Marseille
Having been sacked by Stade Rennais, former Marseille right-back Habib Beye landed on his feet with the job of his dreams, according to him, by replacing Roberto De Zerbi shortly afterwards in February – but it has been a shoddy start for Beye.
In his first game in charge of l’OM, the southerners succumbed to a 2-0 loss to Stade Brest last weekend at Stade Francis-le Ble, courtesy of a brace from one of French football’s cult heroes Ludovic Ajorque.
Lyon preview: Fonseca’s Lyon
Lyon, on the other hand, have been in brilliant form for some time now as they begin the weekend sitting tucked inside the top three of the table and now five points clear of fourth placed Marseille.
Lyon did endure a 3-1 loss to Gary O’Neil’s Strasbourg in the Alsace region last weekend, though, ending what was a record-breaking 13-match winning streak across all competitions for the club.
Marseille team news: Fully fit
Marseille are fully fit and available for this one but Habib Beye may need to make some tweaks with what is a very strong and deep squad down in the south of France.
Predicted XI (4-3-3): Rulli; Weah, Pavard, Aguerd, Emerson; Vermeeren, Hojbjerg, Timber; Greenwood, Gouiri, Igor Paixao

Lyon team news: Attacking injuries
Lyon have a few key injury issues in the final third as Ernest Nuamah is sidelined alongside Malick Fofana, while Afonso Moreira is also a doubt for the visitors.
Predicted XI (4-3-3): Greif; Maitland-Niles, Clinton Mata, Niakhate, Kluivert; Tessmann, Morton, Tolisso; Endrick, Sulc, Abner
Unavailable: Sulc (Injured), Nuamah (Injured), Fofana (Injured)
Questionable: Hateboer (Injured), Mangala (Injured), Afonso (Injured)
Marseille vs Lyon prediction
Marseille are a mess – as is so often the case. The rival factions within the club, seemingly both on and off the pitch, often produces a side that produces way below its means – and way too much drama. They need to find some resolve to ensure they compete for a top three spot but the thing is, that race could all be done if Lyon go down to the coast and win – and avoiding defeat, at least, seems very likely for the visitors.
Marseille vs Lyon tip: Double chance – Lyon to win or draw
