Marseille preview: Entertaining Marseille
The fiery character of former Brighton and Hove Albion boss Roberto De Zerbi has shone through during his stint in charge of Olympique de Marseille, and the hosts have again been chaotic again at the start of this season with two defeats and a victory.
On the opening day of the season, Marseille suffered a 1-0 loss to Stade Rennais and, before the September international break, they lost 1-0 to Olympique Lyonnais, with a 5-2 hammering of newly-promoted Paris sandwiched between those losses.
Lorient preview: Topsy turvy Lorient
As a result of being a part of the Bill Foley ownership group that also consists of both AFC Bournemouth and Auckland, Lorient have been brilliant to watch, but quite bizarre after a 1-0 loss to Auxerre and then a 4-0 hammering of Rennes.
In a game that was delicately poised against Lille at half-time at Stade de Moustoir before the September international break, Lille then romped to a 7-1 demolition of Lorient in the second-half of that match.
Marseille team news: Egan-Riley suspended
Former Burnley centre-back CJ Egan-Riley is missing through suspension for this one, whilst new signing Igor Paixao is once again a doubt due to injury alongside Timothy Weah.
Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Rulli; Michael Amir Murillo, Balerdi, Cornelius, Ulisses Garcia; Gomes, Hojbjerg; Greenwood, Harit, Traore; Aubameyang
Unavailable: Egan-Riley (Suspended)
Questionable: Medina (Injured), Kondogbia (Injured), Weah (Injured), Igor Paixao (Injured)
Lorient team news: A few issues
Lorient have a few issues for this one this weekend as Bandiougou Fadiga and Panos Kateris are injury doubts, whilst defender Isaak Toure is sidelined alongside attacker Pablo Pigas.
Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Kamara; Igor Silva, Talbi, Faye; Yongwa, Avom, Abergel, Kouassi; Aiyegun, Dermane; Soumano
Unavailable: Toure (Injured), Pagis (Injured)
Questionable: Fadiga (Injured), Katseris (Injured)
Marseille vs Lorient prediction
Marseille will head to the Stade Velodrome this weekend looking to put a poor start behind them, with a couple of defeats also combing with the argument between the now sold Jonathan Rowe and Adrien Rabiot. Lorient have shown themselves to be capable of being both brilliant and woeful in equal measure, and so it has the potential to be a high-scoring clash either way, albeit Marseille should come out on top.
