Man Utd preview: Finally clicked?

In what was undoubtedly their best result since Ruben Amorim was appointed, Man Utd came way from Anfield with a 2-1 victory over Liverpool last Sunday, sparking hope among fans that this could be a real turning point for the Red Devils.

They simply must back it up here though, as there have been plenty of false dawns in recent seasons, whether under Amorim or previous managers.

Brighton preview: Old Trafford streak

Brighton are now unbeaten across their last five games in all competitions and come into this fixture off the back of a 2-1 win over Newcastle last Saturday courtesy of a brace from evergreen striker Danny Welbeck.

The Seagulls, who have already beaten Man City and Chelsea in the Premier League this season, have been victorious on their last three trips to Old Trafford, most recently winning 1-3 in January with Yankuba Minteh, Kaoru Mitoma and Georginio Rutter all on the scoresheet.

Man Utd team news: Only one certain absentee

There are some minor doubts surrounding Harry Maguire and Mason Mount, but the latter may have come out of the side anyway to make way for summer signing Benjamin Sesko.

Lisandro Martinez is the only player definitely missing, although Amorim has stated that the Argentine defender is making good progress in his recovery from a knee injury.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Lammens; De Ligt, Maguire, Shaw; Dalot, Fernandes, Casemiro, Diallo; Mbeumo, Cunha; Sesko

Unavailable: Martinez (Injured)

Questionable: Maguire (Injured), Mount (Injured)

Brighton team news: Potentially some returnees

Despite having to be withdrawn against Newcastle with a hip complaint, Diego Gomez has been declared fit and available by manager Fabian Hurzeler.

The Brighton boss has also stated that Joel Veltman, Brajan Gruda and Mitoma are close to making the squad and a late decision will be made on their involvement.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Verbruggen; Wieffer, Dunk, Van Hecke, Kadioglu; Baleba, Ayari; Minteh, Rutter, Gomez; Welbeck

Unavailable: Webster (Injured), Hinshelwood (Injured), March (Injured)

Questionable: Veltman (Fitness), Gruda (Fitness), Mitoma (Fitness)

Man Utd vs Brighton prediction

Although Man Utd's performance and result at Anfield last weekend was one to celebrate, Amorim will know that failure to back that up in this fixture would only bring the scrutiny back to his doorstep.

Brighton have already showed this season that they can take it to the big teams having defeated both Man City and Chelsea, and with Old Trafford having been a happy hunting ground for them in recent seasons, Hurzeler's men will relish the opportunity of a fourth straight victory in the Red Devils' stadium.

Brighton have scored in nine of their ten games in all competitions this season, and with Man Utd possessing plenty of quality in the attacking areas themselves, both teams scoring looks likely in this one.
