In what appears to be one of the weaker 2027 CAF Africa Cup of Nations qualification groups on paper, Mali begin their campaign against Cabo Verde this week.

Mali vs Cabo Verde Prediction
Mali reached the quarter-finals of AFCON at the start of this year before being beaten 1-0 by Senegal. The Malians have since shared a goalless draw with Russia in March before being beaten 2-0 by IR Iran in June.
Cabo Verde were a surprise package at FIFA World Cup 2026 with draws against Spain, Uruguay and Saudi Arabia in the group stages before taking eventual finalists Argentina to extra-time in the round of 32.
Cabo Verde will expect to use their elite experience to improve in this international cycle but Mali themselves remain a decent side so both teams scoring may well be a decent bet for this one.
