Maccabi Haifa head into the second-leg in Hungary with a slender 1-0 advantage, having defeated Rakow Czestochowa in Poland last week at the Miejski Stadion Pilkarski Rakow. They won that game with a 61st minute winner scored by central midfielder Ethan Azoulay.
Maccabi Haifa managed to overcome Torpedo BelAZ Zhodino in the second qualifying round, whilst Rakow would have been expecting to reach the league phase of this competition, as they did last season.
