This weekend’s Ligue 1 football finishes off in a very entertaining fashion as Olympique Lyonnais prepare to take on Strasbourg with both sides pushing at the top-of-the-table.

Lyon preview: Becoming serious

The ownership of John Textor has led to Olympique Lyonnais having to sell quite a lot of players and that has left them with a small squad but, to adapt, Paulo Fonseca has become a little more defensive as he seeks to try and control their opposition.

That is because they have very little to transform things and could also do with preserving energy. That means their eight matches in Ligue 1 have consisted of 19 goals with five victories and three defeats thus far.

Strasbourg preview: Brilliant Strasbourg

Coached by former Hull City boss Liam Rosenior, Strasbourg have been very impressive at the start of this season as they begin the weekend’s round of fixtures sitting third and just two points behind league leaders Olympique de Marseille.

The Alsace-based outfit shared a thrilling 3-3 draw with the defending champions Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes last weekend, before a frustrating 1-1 draw with Jagiellonia Bialystok in the UEFA Europa Conference League.

Lyon team news: Descamps a doubt

Lyon goalkeeper Remy Descamps is a doubt for this weekend due to a wrist injury. They remain without key midfielder Orel Mangala and key attacker Ernest Nuamah.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Greif; Maitland-Niles, Clinton Mata, Kluivert, Abner; Sulc, Morton; Karabec, Tolisso, Fofana; Martin Satriano

Unavailable: Mangala (Injured), Nuamah (Injured)

Questionable: Descamps (Injured)

Strasbourg team news: Emegha out

Strasbourg captain Emanuel Emegha is sidelined due to a hamstring issue for this one. They also have a few defensive doubts such as Ismael Doukoure, Mamadou Sarr and Abakar Sylla.

Predicted XI (3-4-3): Penders; Doue, Hogsberg, Omobamidele; Ouattara, El Mourabet, Barco, Chilwell; Julio Enciso, Panichelli, Diego Moreira

Unavailable: Sow (Injured), Emegha (Injured)

Questionable: Doukoure (Injured), Sarr (Injured), Sylla (Injured)

Lyon vs Strasbourg prediction

Lyon come into this one on the back of a comfortable 2-0 defeat of Basel in the UEFA Europa League, a few days after yet another frustrating loss in which they were beaten 3-2 by Nice at the Allianz Riviera. Strasbourg have also opted for control under Rosenior but this season has seen them be able to stretch their legs a bit and both teams scoring would appear a good bet for this one at Parc OL.

Lyon vs Strasbourg tip: Both teams to score
