They had to sell a lot of their squad over the summer but Paulo Fonseca is continuing to do a good job for Olympique Lyonnais, and that continued in their opening game of this competition a couple of weeks ago, too, as they managed to defeat Utrecht by a goal to nil in the Netherlands.

Red Bull Salzburg have experienced an extremely busy few months, which included playing at this summer’s 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. The Austrians have again struggled domestically as they began their UEFA Europa League season with a 1-0 loss at home to Portuguese giants Porto a couple of weeks ago.

Salzburg will be expected to play with their usual high intensity, but Lyon are proving themselves to be more than good enough to control and punish anyone.
