The ever bizarre John Textor, owner of Olympique Lyonnais, has taken the decision to sack manager Pierre Sage with Lyon looking likely to appoint former Lille boss Paulo Fonseca.

Lyon vs Ludogorets Prediction

Olympique Lyonnais begin the seventh match day of the 2024/25 UEFA Europa League league phase sitting tucked inside the top eight with just one defeat throughout their campaign.

However, a five-match winless run of form across all competitions, in which they have suffered just one defeat inside 90 minutes, was enough for Textor to part company with Sage – who had led Lyon from rock-bottom to sixth in the second-half of last season. They need to sell this month, too, or face an administrative relegation down to Ligue 2.

Bulgarian champions Ludogorets Razgrad head into the final week sitting fourth-from-bottom as one of just three teams, alongside Nice and Dynamo Kyiv, yet to win in the competition thus far. They most recently suffered a 2-0 defeat at home to Midtjylland at the Ludogorets Arena last week due to goals from Dario Osorio and Viktor Andreasen.

Lyon’s supporters are expected to show their displeasure with the bizarre and frankly unfair dismissal of Sage, who had done an excellent job at Parc OL. They face a chaotic and entertaining Ludogorets side so a high-scoring affair does seem quite likely for this one.

Lyon vs Ludogorets Tip: Over 2.5 goals
