Luke Humphries comes into the World Darts Championship with a point to prove after losing his world number one ranking to Luke Littler. Whilst Humphries was the king of the sport in 2024, he’s not been as successful in 2025 due to Littler. Only the Premier League and the World Masters has fallen his way with the Nuke winning the majority of televised majors.
Most casual darts fan familiar with Ted Evetts is likely due to him being famously beaten by Fallon Sherrock back in 2019, the first time a woman was victorious in a PDC World Darts Championship match. But that’s an unfair reflection on Evetts, a very good player who played well in that match but lost to an excellent Sherrock performance. However, it’s fair to say that ‘Super Ted’ hasn’t lived up to his high billing as a youngster.
The reality is that Humphries is a far superior player and should win this one comfortably without dropping a set. But also backing Cool Hand Luke to register at least one 100+ checkout and the most 180s looks a smart move.
