Lorient preview: Newly-promoted Lorient

With smart operations off the pitch as a part of the Black Night group, Lorient will be expected to steady themselves in the middle-of-the-table in Ligue 1 but they have managed just two victories in their opening seven matches.

The home team most recently suffered a 2-0 defeat to fellow newly-promoted side Paris a couple of weeks ago in the capital city due to goals from Ilan Kebbal and Jean-Philippe Krasso.

Brest preview: Brest need a performance

Coached by former Sunderland player Eric Roy, Stade Brest have majorly overperformed in each of the last two seasons but the visitors sit firmly in the middle-of-the-table after seven matches.

Brest come into this one on the back of back-to-back victories being followed up by a goalless draw with a struggling Nantes side at Stade Francis-Le Ble a couple of weeks ago before the October international break.

Lorient team news: A few issues

Lorient are dealing with a few injury issues for this weekend as both Isaak Toure and Trevan Sanusi are sidelined, whilst the likes of Bandiougou Fadiga, Panos Katseris and Nathaniel Adjei are doubtful.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Mvogo; Meite, Talbi, Faye; Le Bris, Avom, Abergel, Kouassi; Makengo, Pagis; Bamba

Unavailable: Toure (Injured), Sanusi (Injured)

Questionable: Adjei (Injured), Fadiga (Injured), Kateris (Injured)

Brest team news: A few doubts

As they travel to face Lorient this weekend, Stade Brest are dealing with a few key doubts for this one such as Lucas Tousart as well as Romain Del Castillo and Mama Balde.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Majecki; Lala, Chardonnet, Diaz, Locko; Chotard, Magnetti; Dina Ebimbe, Doumbia, Mboup; Ajorque

Unavailable: Labeau (Injured)

Questionable: Tousart (Injured), Del Castillo (Injured), Balde (Injured)

Lorient vs Brest prediction

Lorient will believe that their off-field processes will eventually lead to them becoming a force to be reckoned with in terms of pushing for a top-half finish in Ligue 1 this season. They can often become too open and too ambitious, though, leading to them becoming exposed. Brest’s overperformance was built upon rigidity but they have become a lot more chaotic and so both teams scoring seems a good bet for this one.

Lorient vs Brest tip: Both teams to score
