Liverpool vs Newcastle prediction
Liverpool suffered their first defeat since November last weekend when they lost 3-2 to Bournemouth, with the Reds conceding in the 95th minute to the Cherries.
Arne Slot's men responded in positive fashion with a 6-0 win over Qarabag on Wednesday though, ensuring that they finished third in the league phase of the Champions League.
Newcastle, meanwhile, held holders Paris Saint-Germain to a creditable 1-1 draw in France midweek, although they have failed to score in their last two Premier League outings; a goalless draw with Wolves and last weekend's 0-2 defeat to Aston Villa.
There are usually goals in this famous fixture though. Indeed, there have been over 2.5 in five of their last six contests across all competitions. Newcastle have not been finding the net regularly in recent weeks but this Liverpool backline has not convinced this season. The Reds remain potent at the other end though, so goals should be expected.
Liverpool vs Newcastle tip: Over 2.5 goals
