Lille preview: Strong and entertaining
Coached by the exciting Bruno Genesio, formerly of Olympique Lyonnais, Lille have been fun to watch for the neutral again this season but their inconsistency means that they begin the weekend currently sitting outside of the top six.
That said, they are just four points adrift of league leaders Paris Saint-Germain. They were beaten 2-0 by Nice at the Allianz Riviera in midweek due to goals from Sofiane Diop and Isak Jansson.
Angers preview: Struggling Angers
Under the management of Alexandre Dujeux, Angers are seeking to avoid so-called ‘second season syndrome’ in Ligue 1 and it has been a good week for the visitors after a very slow start to the campaign.
The visitors come into this one on the back of an entertaining 2-2 draw with Olympique de Marseille at Stade Velodrome in midweek in a game in which defender Ousmane Camara scored a second-half stoppage-time equaliser for Angers.
Lille team news: Ozer a doubt
Key goalkeeper Berke Ozer is a doubt for Lille this weekend as he missed out in midweek due to illness, whilst Ethan Mbappe, the brother of Kylian, has had a strong start to the season halted by injury.
Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Bodart; Meunier, Mandi, Ngoy, Perraud; Bouaddi, Andre; Fernandez-Pardo, Haraldsson, Correia; Igamane
Unavailable: Toure (Injured), Mbappe (Injured)
Questionable: Ozer (Illness), Alexsandro (Injured)
Angers team news: A few doubts
Angers are dealing with a few fresh doubts this weekend as Prosper Peter is potentially sidelined alongside both Louis Mouton and Emmanuel Biumla, with Jim Allevinah also a doubt.
Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Koffi; Arcus, Camara, Lefort, Ekomie; Belkelba, Abdelli; Belkhdim, Capelle, Raolisoa; Cherif
Unavailable: Allevinah (Injured)
Questionable: Mouton (Injured), Biumla (Injured), Peter (Injured)
Lille vs Angers prediction
Lille’s ten Ligue 1 matches have consisted of 35 goals and they have arguably been one of the most thrilling teams to watch in Europe, especially at home with a 7-0 win over Lorient and a 6-1 defeat of Metz with home advantage so far this season. Angers are a bit more stubborn than those two teams but they remain unlikely to be able to hold off a strong Lille side at Stade Pierre-Mauroy.
