In Group D of CAF qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Cape Verde are closing in on their first ever FIFA World Cup. They are four points clear of Cameroon with two games to go, but Libya are lurking just a point behind the Cameroonians and they could blow the race for automatic qualification wide open this week.
The Libyans come into this one on the back of back-to-back victories in the September international break, defeating both Angola and then Eswatini. They now face a Cape Verde side that have managed six victories and a draw in their eight games thus far, most recently defeating Cameroon by a goal to nil last month.
