Leyton Orient vs Derby Prediction

League One side Leyton Orient enter the third round as one of the form teams in English football right now with Richie Wellens’ side having won their last five league games, and nine of their last ten in all competitions, drawing the other.

Orient have reached the third round the hard way though, seeing off Boreham Wood on penalties in the first round before a dramatic extra-time victory over Oldham last time out, which included a 90th-minute equaliser and a 120th-minute winner.

In contrast to the hosts, Derby are experiencing something of a slump right now with the Championship outfit on a three-game losing streak heading into this contest. Paul Warne’s side – who have won just three of their last 17 games – sit 18th in the Championship in their first season back in the second tier.

Not since the 2010-11 season have Leyton Orient progressed beyond the third round, but they will see this as an excellent opportunity to do just that despite the fact they face a team from the league above them. There is an argument to be made for both teams swapping divisions given their current trajectories, with the in-form hosts tipped to upset the odds and win this tie.
