Levante preview: Improved Levante

Levante come into this one on the back of a dramatic victory against Elche in a Valencian derby last weekend, courtesy of a dramatic 96th minute winner scored by defender Alan Matturro.

The home team have now suffered just one defeat in their last five matches in La Liga, following the appointment of Luis Castro, who had done an excellent job with Dunkerque in Ligue 2 last season before struggling at Nantes this season.

Atletico Madrid preview: Top three Atleti

Atletico Madrid most recently suffered a 2-1 loss to Norwegian champions Bodo/Glimt at the Metropolitano in the league phase of the UEFA Champions League but Los Rojiblancos didn’t have too much motivation for that one.

In La Liga and Copa del Rey, Atleti hammered Real Mallorca by three goals to nil last weekend, extending their unbeaten run of form in domestic competitions outside of the Supercopa de Espana to nine matches.

Levante team news: A few issues

Levante have a few injury issues for this one as Unai Elgezabal and Brugui confirmed absentees, while Diego Pampin and Victor Garcia are doubts for this weekend.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Ryan; Toljan, Dela, Matturro, Manu Sanchez; Julen Olasagasti, Pablo Martinez; Carlos Alvarez, Iker Losada, Ivan Romero; Eyong

Unavailable: Unai Elgezabal (Injured), Brugui (Injured)

Questionable: Diego Pampin (Injured), Victor Garcia (Injured), Tunde (Illness)

Atletico Madrid team news: Griezmann a doubt

Experienced France international attacker Antoine Griezmann is a doubt for Atletico Madrid this weekend as Los Rojiblancos head to the city of Valencia this week.

Predicted XI (4-4-2): Oblak; Marcos Llorente, Jose Maria Gimenez, Marc Pubill, Hancko; Giuliano Simeone, Johnny, Pablo Barrios, Alex Baena; Sorloth, Julian Alvarez

Unavailable:

Questionable: Griezmann (Injured)

Levante vs Atletico Madrid prediction

With Luis Castro at the helm, Levante have been very impressive in the last few weeks with a more proactive and progressive style of football. They face an Atletico Madrid side that begin the match day sitting eight points clear of league leaders Barcelona. Levante will believe they can topple an Atleti side that are often fallible when away from home, though, and so it could be quite a good watch for the neutral.

Levante vs Atletico Madrid tip: Both teams to score
