It isn’t quite last chance saloon for Levante but the Valencians do really need to win here as they welcome Deportivo Alaves down to Estadio Ciutat de Valencia this weekend.

Levante preview: Fading away

Having shown signs of improvement after the appointment of former Dunkerque and Nantes boss Luis Castro during the mid-season winter break, Levante now appear to be fading towards relegation straight back down to the second-tier.

The home team come into this one on the back of a 3-0 hammering at the hands of Barcelona at Camp Nou last weekend, extending the hosts’ losing streak to four matches in La Liga.

Alaves preview: In a fight

Deportivo Alaves begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting just three points and four places above the bottom three and the relegation places and the pressure is growing a fair bit on manager Eduardo Coudet.

Alaves are in steady form, though, as they snatched a 2-2 draw against Girona at the Mendizorroza in Vitoria-Gasleiz last week to mean that they have now suffered just one defeat in their last five matches.

Levante team news: Kervin Arriaga suspended

Ivan Romero picked up an eye injury last week but should be available for this one, while Kervin Arriaga is unavailable for the hosts due to suspension.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Ryan; Toljan, Dela, Matturro, Manu Sanchez; Oriol Rey, Jon Olasagasti; Victor Garcia, Carlos Alvarez, Eyong; Ivan Romero

Unavailable: Pablo Martinez (Injured), Kervin Arriaga (Suspended), Brugui (Injured)

Questionable: Unai Elgezabal (Injured), Ivan Romero (Injured)

Alaves team news: Nothing to worry about

Alaves have no fresh injury concerns or suspension issues for their starting eleven and so the Basque outfit will be able to name an unchanged side for this one.

Predicted XI (3-4-3): Antonio Sivera; Jonny, Tenaglia, Vitor Parada; Angel Perez, Pablo Ibanez, Antonio Blanco, Yusi; Toni Martinez, Lucas Boye, Carles Alena

Unavailable:

Questionable: Koski (Injured)

Levante vs Alaves prediction

Following their promotion to the top-flight last season, Levante have been entertaining to watch under both Julian Calero and now Luis Castro, but they have been ineffective. They face an Alaves side that have their own proactive coach at the helm and seven of their last eight matches in La Liga have featured both teams scoring so, with Etta Eyong and Ivan Romero surely about to rediscover some form for the hosts, both teams scoring may well be a good bet for this one.

Levante vs Alaves tip: Both teams to score
