Leicester Preview: Struggling Foxes

Leicester City come into this one on the back of a 2-1 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford in the fourth round of the FA Cup last weekend. The Foxes led at half-time before eventually conceding a controversial late winner scored by Harry Maguire.

In the Premier League, they earned a come from behind win at Tottenham Hotspur last month to mean they remain in touching distance of safety but that victory was backed up with a 4-0 hammering at the hands of Everton a couple of weeks ago.

Arsenal Preview: Gunning for more

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal don’t have to focus on any domestic cup competitions anymore after an FA Cup third round exit to Manchester United last month and an EFL Cup semi-final loss to Newcastle United confirmed in their most recent outing about ten days ago.

The Gunners suffered a 2-0 loss at St James’ Park to complete a 4-0 aggregate defeat just a few days after a confidence boosting 5-1 demolition of defending English champions Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium.

Leicester Team News: Key men return

In his pre-match press conference, Ruud van Nistelrooy has confirmed that Leicester are not dealing with any fresh injury concerns ahead of this weekend. They have also welcomed back Jannik Vestergaard, Victor Kristiansen and Jamie Vardy to training this week and all three are expected to be involved for this one.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Hermansen; Justin, Faes, Vestergaard, Kristiansen; Winks, Soumare; Ayew, El Khannouss, Decordova-Reid; Vardy

Unavailable: Pereira (Injured), Fatawu (Injured)

Arsenal Team News: Serious Havertz injury

Whilst away in Dubai, Kai Havertz has suffered a serious muscle injury which will see him miss the rest of this season. They have a few key issues in attack as both Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus are long-term absentees with Gabriel Martinelli also sidelined. Ben White has returned to full fitness for the Gunners, though.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Raya; Timber, Saliba, Gabriel, Lewis-Skelly; Odegaard, Partey, Rice; Trossard, Sterling, Nwaneri

Unavailable: Tomiyasu (Injured), Havertz (Injured), Martinelli (Injured), Saka (Injured), Jesus (Injured)

Leicester vs Arsenal Prediction

Leicester City have picked up seven points from Ruud van Nistelrooy’s 11 matches in the Premier League with the Foxes having a generally weak squad that was expected to struggle even before the season and many believed Steve Cooper had them actually punching above their weight. They now face an Arsenal side that discovered a scoring touch that has been missing when they hammered City but they will have to return to an approach that shows a bit more humility and is more hard-working after their timid display up in Newcastle. A comfortable away win is to be expected at the King Power Stadium.
