Under the management of Niels Frederiksen, Lech Poznan won the 2024/25 Polish Ekstraklasa title – which was the ninth in their history and the first since 2022, with the vast majority of their success coming in the 80s and the 90s.
Legia Warsaw head into this one on the back of beginning their campaign with a slender 1-0 defeat of Kazakh side Aktobe in the first-leg of their UEFA Europa League first qualifying round tie in midweek. Legia reached the quarter-finals of the UEFA Europa Conference League last season and are seeking to re-assert their dominance in Polish football after winning their 21st Polish Cup last season.
Lech will likely believe they are firm favourites for this one as league winners, and with Legia focused on their European tie with Aktobe, siding with Lech may well be the way to go for this one.
