Lecce were one of the pre-season favourites for relegation as the Apulia-based outfit now welcome newly-promoted Sassuolo down to Stadio Comunale Via del Mare.

Lecce preview: Poor Lecce

Lecce come into this one on the back of a slender 1-0 victory over Parma at the Ennio Tardini in Emilio-Romagna a couple of weeks ago before the October international break, courtesy of a first-half winner scored by Riccardo Sottil.

The home team have narrowly escaped relegation in each of the last two seasons. Over the summer, they appointed former Roma boss Eusebio Di Francesco, who has overseen both Frosinone and Venezia being relegated in the last two seasons.

Sassuolo preview: Steady Sassuolo

Following promotion back to the top-flight last season, Sassuolo took the unusual decision for a newly-promoted side to stick by their manager with 2006 FIFA World Cup winner Fabio Grosso at the helm for this campaign.

The visitors have started their return to Serie A with a reasonable start, winning three and losing three of their opening six matches. They went into the break on the back of back-to-back victories against Hellas Verona and then Udinese.

Lecce team news: A few issues

Lecce have a few key injury issues for this weekend as the likes of Filip Marchwinski and Tete Morente are doubtful, whilst Matias Perez has joined the list of confirmed absentees.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Falcone; Veiga, Gaspar, Tiago Gabriel, Gallo; Coulibaly, Ramadani, Berisha; Pierotti, Stulic, Sottil

Unavailable: Matias Perez (Injured), Jean (Injured), Rafia (Injured)

Questionable: Marchwinski (Injured), Pierret (Injured), Tete Morente (Injured)

Sassuolo team news: Berardi a doubt

Key man and captain Domenico Berardi is a doubt for Sassuolo this weekend due to a knee issue. They also have some confirmed absentees such as Edoardo Pieragnolo and Yeferson Paz.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Muric; Walukiewicz, Idzes, Muharemovic, Doig; Vranckx, Matic, Kone; Volpato, Pinamonti, Lauriente

Unavailable: Pieragnolo (Injured), Yeferson Paz (Injured)

Questionable: Berardi (Injured)

Lecce vs Sassuolo prediction

Lecce have been struggling for a while and that is why they were tipped up to be one of the biggest strugglers in Serie A this season. They have remained lacking in quality with just five goals scored in six matches. They face a Sassuolo side that have a lot more attacking prowess and should never really have been in Serie B in the first place and so siding with the visitors would appear the way to go for this one this weekend.

Lecce vs Sassuolo tip: Double chance – Sassuolo to win or draw
