As was to be expected before the season began, we head into the second-half of the season with both Lecce and Parma involved in Serie A's relegation battle.

Lecce preview: Stubborn Lecce

Having narrowly avoided the drop in each of the last two seasons, Lecce are hovering just above the bottom three and the relegation places but they have been more stubborn and a bit more difficult to defeat than had been expected under the management of former Roma boss Eusebio Di Francesco, who has been relegated in the last couple of seasons with Frosinone and Venezia.

The Apulia-based outfit did most recently, though, suffer a 2-0 defeat at home to the aforementioned Roma in midweek at Stadio Comunale Via del Mare. Ireland international striker Evan Ferguson opened the scoring for the Giallorossi before Ukraine's Artem Dovbyk completed a comfortable defeat of Lecce in the second-half.

Parma preview: Steady Parma

Coached by Mikel Arteta's former assistant Carlos Cuesta, Parma have a very similar record to Lecce, with both teams having won four of their 18 games so far this season but the visitors have managed one more draw to leave them just a point and a place ahead of Lecce in the bottom-half of the table.

The visitors also suffered their own fairly comfortable 2-0 defeat at home in midweek. Up against former boss Cristian Chivu and his Internazionale side, Parma were beaten quite easily by the Nerazzurri due to goals towards the end of either half from Federico Dimarco and then from Marcus Thuram.

Lecce team news: A few doubts

Lecce are dealing with a few doubts for this one against Parma as midfielders Lassana Coulibaly, Filip Marchwinski and Balthazar Pierret are potentially sidelined alongside Tete Morente.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Falcone; Veiga, Gaspar, Tiago Gabriel, Gallo; Kaba, Ramadani, Maleh; Sottil, Camarda, Banda

Unavailable: Rafia (Injured), Berisha (Injured)

Questionable: Coulibaly (Injured), Marchwinski (Injured), Pierret (Injured), Tete Morente (Injured)

Parma team news: Benedyczak a doubt

Versatile attacker Adrian Benedyczak is a doubt for this one once again, while key men such as Zion Suzuki, Abdoulaye Ndiaye and Matija Frigan are all confirmed absentees.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Corvi; Britschgi, Del Prato, Circati, Valeri; Adrian Bernabe, Keita, Sorensen; Oristanio, Mateo Pellegrino, Ondrejka

Unavailable: Suzuki (Injured), Ndiaye (Injured), Frigan (Injured)

Questionable: Benedyczak (Injured)

Lecce vs Parma prediction

These are two of the poorer teams in the league and that is especially the case in the final third with neither having the record, nor the quality to change it, and a low-scoring, low quality encounter is to be expected down in the south of Italy.

Lecce vs Parma tip: Under 2.5 goals
