Having been perennial strugglers in Serie A, Lecce are once again battling against the drop as the Apulia-based outfit now take on Bologna at Stadio Comunale Via del Mare.

Lecce preview: Poor Lecce

Lecce come into this one on the back of a poor start to the campaign, as was to be expected, with the Apulians having collected just one point from their opening four matches, and that came on the opening day of the season.

In each of the last two seasons, under Luca Gotti and then Marco Giampaolo, Lecce have managed to steer themselves clear of the drop but the appointment of two-time relegated coach Eusebio Di Francesco may be pushing their luck too far.

Bologna preview: Indifferent Bologna

Bologna have been improving quite a lot in recent seasons and they are once again in Europe, having qualified for the UEFA Europa League last season. They began that campaign with a 1-0 loss to Aston Villa at Villa Park in midweek.

Bologna have been inconsistent at the start of their Serie A season with two victories and two defeats in their opening four matches. The second of which came with a 2-1 victory over Genoa at the Renato Dall’Ara last weekend.

Lecce team news: A few doubts

Lecce are dealing with several injury doubts for this weekend, such as midfield duo Thorir Helgason and Balthazar Pierret, as well as key attacker Riccardo Sottil.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Falcone; Kouassi, Gaspar, Tiago Gabriel, Gallo; Coulibaly, Ramadani, Alex Sala; Pierroti, Stulic, Tete Morente

Unavailable: Matias Perez (Injured), Jean (Injured), Rafia (Injured)

Questionable: Marchwinski (Injured), Helgason (Injured), Pierret (Injured), Sottil (Injured)

Bologna team news: Nothing fresh

There are no fresh injury concerns or suspension issues for Bologna this weekend, but they do have some confirmed absentees such as Tommaso Pobega, Ibrahim Sulemana and Ciro Immobile.

Predicted XI (X-X-X-X): PREDICTED XI HERE

Unavailable: Pobega (Injured), Sulemana (Injured), Immobile (Injured)

Questionable: Casale (Injured)

Lecce vs Bologna prediction

Lecce come into this one knowing that they are surely set for a long and hard battle against the drop this season. The home team are limited in terms of quality and now have a naïve coach that has been relegated in each of the last two seasons. Bologna haven’t been at their best this season but they would surely have to be viewed as the favourites for this one against such weak opposition.

Lecce vs Bologna tip: Bologna to win
