Lazio Preview: Top four challenge for Lazio
Having been appointed Lazio boss last summer following pulling off a miracle in charge of Hellas Verona, Marco Baroni had done a reasonably good job in charge of Lazio before a mid-season dip now has them firmly in the fight for a top four finish in Serie A.
The capital city club come into this one on the back of a slender 1-0 defeat of struggling Empoli at Stadio Carlo Castellani last weekend thanks a winning goal scored by Senegal international attacker Boulaye Dia, scored in the opening minute of that match in Florence.
Juventus Preview: Old Lady on the push
Juventus appointed Thiago Motta last summer as the club tried to evolve their style of football but they struggled throughout the campaign and he was replaced by former Lazio boss Igor Tudor during the March international break.
The Bianconeri’s performances have remained underwhelming but they do still begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting just about tucked inside the top four and the UEFA Champions League spots in what is a congested battle for the top four.
Lazio Team News: Hysaj suspended
In that aforementioned game against Empoli in which Lorenzo Colombo was sent off for Empoli, Albania international defender Elseid Hysaj was sent off for Lazio and he is now missing through suspension, whilst defenders Patric, Manuel Lazzari and Nuno Tavares are all injured, too.
Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Mandas; Gila, Gigot, Romagnoli, Pellegrini; Guendouzi, Rovella; Marusic, Dia, Zaccagni; Valentin Castellanos
Unavailable: Patric (Injured), Hysaj (Suspended), Lazzari (Injured)
Questionable: Tavares (Injured)
Juventus Team News: Several absentees
Juventus remain without Turkey international attacker Kenan Yildiz due to suspension and the visitors are also dealing with several injury absentees in defence such as Bremer and Lloyd Kelly as well as full-back options Juan Cabal and Andrea Cambiaso.
Predicted XI (3-4-1-2): Di Gregorio; Kalulu, Veiga, Savona; Weah, Locatelli, Thuram, Alberto Costa; McKennie; Gonzalez, Kolo Muani
Unavailable: Bremer (Injured), Kelly (Injured), Juan Cabal (Injured), Cambiaso (Injured), Yildiz (Suspended), Milik (Injured)
Questionable: Gatti (Injured), Koopmeiners (Injured), Vlahovic (Injured)
Lazio vs Juventus Prediction
These are two of the most famous sides in Italian football both locked in the battle to finish in the top four in Serie A. Juventus begin the weekend sitting fourth but level on points with Roma and Lazio in fifth and sixth, just a point ahead of Bologna in seventh and just four ahead of Fiorentina and six in front of AC Milan with nine points to play for. Lazio will fancy their chances with home advantage against a Juve side that have scored more than one goal in a game on just three occasions in their last 13 matches across all competitions – at home to Hellas Verona, Lecce and Monza. A low-scoring game is to be expected and Lazio will fancy themselves.
Lazio vs Juventus Tip: Lazio to win & under 3.5 goals
