Maurizio Sarri’s Lazio have been relatively entertaining off the pitch and a bit dull on it as the Romans now take on a high-flying and entertaining Como side to the capital city

Lazio preview: Chaotic Lazio

Maurizio Sarri and his Lazio side have been frustrated throughout this season with plenty of bizarre decision-making off the pitch, which has continued into the January transfer window with the sales of Matteo Guendouzi and Valentin Castellanos.

The home team do come into this one, though, on the back of a hard-fought 1-0 defeat of a struggling Hellas Verona side at the Marcantonio Bentegodi last weekend, courtesy of a 79th minute own goal scored by defender Victor Nelsson.

Como preview: Frustrated Como

Coached by Cesc Fabregas, Como play some of the best football in Italy but they have often been let down by an inefficiency in front of goal, as shown by the fact that the top four chasers have only scored 28 goals in 20 matches so far this season.

The visitors were again brilliant for an hour the other night, taking the lead and dominating against a title challenging AC Milan side, but they eventually succumbed to a 3-1 loss to the Rossoneri at Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia.

Lazio team news: AFCON absentees

Lazio remain without Nigeria international midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru and Senegal international striker Boulaye Dia due to their involvement at the CAF Africa Cup of Nations.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Provedel; Marusic, Mario Gila, Romagnoli, Pellegrini; Taylor, Cataldi, Matias Vecino; Isaksen, Noslin, Cancellieri

Unavailable: Gigot (Injured), Patric (Injured), Dele-Bashiru (International duty), Dia (International duty)

Questionable: Basic (Injured)

Como team news: Attacking injuries

Como’s profligacy in the final third isn’t helped by the fact that they have some key attacking absentees such as Jayden Addai, Assane Diao and Alvaro Morata.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Butez; Van Der Brempt, Jacobo, Kempf, Alberto Moreno; Maximo Perrone, Da Cunha; Vojvoda, Nico Paz, Baturina; Douvikas

Unavailable: Goldaniga (Injured), Addai (Injured), Diao (Injured), Alvaro Morata (Injured)

Questionable:

Lazio vs Como prediction

This is a case of one team trying to play quite a cautious style of football and managing to get away with it by sitting in the top-half of the table, albeit still underwhelming for their supporters, in Lazio. Up against a Como side that are trying to be one of, if not the, most proactive teams in Serie A and being undermined by a lack of quality at the key moment. That said, purely based on who should dominate and create the most chances, Como should be a good value bet at the Stadio Olimpico.

Lazio vs Como tip: Double chance – Como to win or draw
