Despite the expectation that they reach the league phase, the first-leg of this UEFA Europa Conference League second qualifying round tie saw Vardar Skopje pull off a surprise 2-1 defeat of Lausanne at the Tose Proeski Arena in North Macedonia last week.

Vardar took the lead in that game in first-half stoppage-time thanks to a strike from Rogers Mato, before Gaoussou Diakite equalised for the Swiss side mid-way through the second-half, but Hato’s striking partner Azer Omeragic re-established Vardar’s lead late in the second 45 minutes.

Lausanne will believe they can turn things around with their second-leg in Switzerland, and they are the overwhelming and firm favourites for this one with home advantage.
