Lausanne-Sport come into this one on the back of a 2-1 defeat to FC Thun in the Swiss Super League at the weekend, to mean they have begun their domestic campaign with a win and a defeat. They managed to hammer North Macedonian side Vardar by six goals to two on aggregate in the second qualifying round last month.
They now face an Astana side that were unconvincing but victories in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Europa Conference League last month. In the first-leg, Astana shared a 1-1 draw with a weak Moldovan side Zimbru Chisinau, before then easing to a comfortable 2-0 victory in the second-leg.
Lausanne will believe they are favourites for this one, and they should come out on top with their home advantage in Switzerland during this midweek.
