The Latvians come into this one on the back of a 3-0 loss to England at Wembley Stadium in their most recent outing in European qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, during the March international break. They have won three of their last 15 matches with two 1-0 wins against the Faroe Islands, as well as a 1-0 win against Armenia.

They now face an Azerbaijan side that most recently suffered a couple of comfortable defeats in friendlies a couple of months ago, losing by three goals to nil against Haiti before then suffering a 2-0 loss to Belarus. That means the Azeri’s are now winless in their last eight games, scoring just three goals in those eight matches.

Latvia are expected to earn themselves a slender victory in this one but a slender victory is very much to be expected, with such little attacking output on either side.
