Kevin Doets vs Matthew Dennant prediction
Kevin Doets has never lost in the first round of the World Darts Championship, which bodes well going into his third appearance at the event. The last saw him reach the fourth round before losing 4-3 in a thriller to Chris Dobey, so motivation will no doubt be high for the Dutchman heading into this first round encounter.
Matthew Dennant is making his debut at Ally Pally after a successful year on the PDC pro tour. The 34-year-old lacks major televised experienced compared to Doets which could lead to less pressure on his shoulders with Doets being favoured to triumph. However, a poor start could see Dennant behind the eight-ball early on and unable to pull things back.
Doets is a proven performer on this stage and his routine is unlikely to change compared to last year. It shouldn’t take long for him to settle into proceedings and any outcome other than victory for him would be seen as a surprise.
