Having long been a top performer on the youth circuit, it's fair to say that Keane Barry is yet to make the step-up and firmly establish himself as a dangerous tour player.
The 23-year-old is still in the early stages of his career of course, and did make the quarter-finals of the World Cup of Darts this year alongside experienced Irishman William O' Connor.
This is already his seventh Ally Pally appearance, so he is well-accustomed to the big stage by now.
The same cannot be said for Tim Pusey, who is the final debutant to grace the stage in this year's first round. Perhaps more well-known for having his nickname banned by the PDC for this tournament, the Australian topped the ADA Tour rankings in 2025, clinching back-to-back titles on the final weekend of action in September.
Pusey has participated in World Series events in Australia in Pusey in the past, without success, and this will likely be another early exit for him.
