Having qualified for the league phase of the UEFA Champions League and becoming the most easterly team to play at that level, Kairat Almaty still managed to win the Kazakh Premier League, impressively balancing domestic and European competitions.
They now face a Tobol side that finished third in the Kazakh Premier League, five points adrift of the eventual Kairat, who defended their title. Tobol had managed to defeat Ordabasy by two goals to nil in late-October to win the Kazakh Cup.
Kairat have already played a couple of competitive games in the UCL in 2026, while Tobol haven’t played properly since October and so Kairat would be expected to ease to a comfortable win here.
