In the first-leg of this UEFA Europa Conference League second qualifying round tie at JYSK Park in Denmark last week, Knattspyrnufelag Akureyrar and Silkeborg shared a 1-1 draw. In that game, Irishman Callum McCowatt gave Silkeborg a first-half lead in the 38th minute, before Hallgrimur Mar Steingrimsson equalised in second-half stoppage-time for the Icelanders.
KA do not have the best European pedigree and to even have this tie in the balance will be viewed as something of an overachievement, whilst Silkeborg haven’t won a European tie since reaching the group stages of the 2022/23 UEFA Europa Conference League.
Silkeborg will believe that they have more of the talent to win this against KA, but home advantage will make it a close contest and it is likely to be a low-scoring encounter.
