Juventus Preview: Need some fluency

Thiago Motta was tasked with developing and evolving the culture and style of football at Juventus with a modernised and more progressive approach wanted by the club. They remain unbeaten but their lack of attacking thrust and precision has limited their progress.

They have drawn ten and won seven of their opening 17 Serie A matches and, despite a win last weekend, were unconvincing as they defeated bottom-of-the-table Monza by two goals to one thanks to goals from Weston McKennie and summer signing Nicolas Gonzalez.

Fiorentina Preview: Need a response

Fiorentina remain in the Serie A title race, especially with their game-in-hand, but former Monza boss Raffaele Palladino will be frustrated with the fact I Viola have given up major ground of late due to back-to-back surprise defeats heading into Christmas.

After losing to Bologna by a goal to nil a couple of weeks ago, and then being held to a 1-1 draw by Vitoria Guimaraes in the UEFA Europa Conference League, they were then surprisingly beaten 2-1 by an out of form Udinese side at the Artemio Franchi last weekend.

Juventus Team News: Several injuries

Brazil international centre-back Bremer is sidelined due to a knee injury with Juve also dealing with several injury concerns. Danilo is a major doubt alongside first-teamers such as Douglas Luiz, Teun Koopmeiners and Timothy Weah.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Di Gregorio; Savona, Gatti, Kalulu, McKennie; Locatelli, Fagioli; Conceicao, Yildiz, Gonzalez; Vlahovic

Unavailable: Bremer (Injured), Juan Cabal (Injured), Milik (Injured)

Questionable: Danilo (Injured), Douglas Luiz (Injured), Koopmeiners (Injured), Weah (Injured)

Fiorentina Team News: No Biraghi

Roma loanee Edoardo Bove is unavailable with his future uncertain due to a cardiac arrest suffered against Internazionale last month. As well as Bove, defender Cristiano Biraghi is sidelined due to injury.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): David de Gea; Kayode, Comuzzo, Ranieri, Gosens; Cataldi, Adli; Colpani, Beltran, Sottil; Kean

Unavailable: Biraghi (Injured), Bove (Illness)

Questionable:

Juventus vs Fiorentina Prediction

Juventus are unbeaten in their last 13 matches across all competitions since losing to Stuttgart in the UEFA Champions League in mid-October. However, for want of avoiding a cliché, there is a feeling that Thiago Motta’s side are ‘due’ a defeat. They take on a Fiorentina side that need to avoid a third successive loss if they want to tentatively remain involved in the Italian title race and a double chance bet in favour of the visitors in what is a historic rivalry would appear a good value bet for this one in Turin.

Juventus vs Fiorentina Tip: Double chance – Fiorentina to win or draw
