Juventus preview: Strong start for Old Lady

Towards the end of last season, Juventus parted company with Thiago Motta and they replaced him with Igor Tudor, who has remained in charge, somewhat surprisingly, after a round of 16 exit at this summer’s FIFA Club World Cup.

The Old Lady come into this one on the back of a 4-3 defeat of Internazionale in the Derby d’Italia in Turin at the weekend. That means that the Bianconeri have started this season with three wins from three as they look to re-assert themselves as a force.

Borussia Dortmund preview: Strong Dortmund

Mid-way through last season, Niko Kovac was appointed by Borussia Dortmund and he managed to propel the German giants to a top four finish and UEFA Champions League qualification, with a view to now challenging in the Bundesliga again.

After a frustrating 3-3 draw with St Pauli on the opening day of the season, Dortmund then hammered Union Berlin by three goals to nil, before most recently easing past Heidenheim by two goals to nil in the Bundesliga at the weekend.

Juventus team news: No need to change

There is no need for Juventus to change what they have been doing of late, albeit Andrea Cambiaso can come into the starting eleven, having been suspended in Serie A.

Predicted XI (3-5-2): Di Gregorio; Gatti, Bremer, Kelly; Kalulu, Locatelli, Thuram, McKennie, Cambiaso; Yildiz, David

Unavailable: Miretti (Injured), Conceicao (Injured), Zhegrova (Injured)

Borussia Dortmund team news: Defensive absentees

As they make the trip to Italy, key new signing Aaron Anselmino is now an injury concern for Dortmund, with fellow centre-backs Niklas Sule and Nico Schlotterbeck already sidelined.

Predicted XI (3-4-3): Kobel; Ryerson, Anton, Bensebaini; Couto, Gross, Nmecha, Svensson; Adeyemi, Guirassy, Beier

Unavailable: Anselmino (Injured), Sule (Injured), Schlotterbeck (Injured), Can (Injured), Brandt (Injured), Silva (Injured)

Juventus vs Borussia Dortmund prediction

Ever since the appointment of Tudor, Juve have played a controlling style of football, which has often seen them struggle to be fluent in the final third and score too many goals. They face a Dortmund side that have been able to play with a good balance, aside from that opening day draw with St Pauli, with Kovac reigniting his managerial career. However, Juve managed to find some attacking form the other day and both teams scoring would therefore seem a reasonable shout for this one.

Juventus vs Borussia Dortmund Tip: Both teams to score
