Key stats

  • Jordan have lost only one of their last 13 World Cup qualifying matches (W8 D4).
  • Iraq have lost only one of their previous 11 World Cup qualifying matches against Jordan (W7 D3). The only loss was a 2-0 home defeat in September 2011.

Jordan vs Iraq prediction

Jordan are celebrating their first-ever qualification for the FIFA World Cup next summer so there will be a party atmosphere inside the Amman International Stadium for this match with Iraq. Ali Olwan was the hero on Thursday as he fired a hat-trick against Oman to seal qualification.

It will be interesting to see how motivated they are for this match although they will always be keen to do well when facing Iraq. The visitors have assured themselves of playing in the fourth round of qualifying so their route to the World Cup is not over yet.

They come off a 0-2 loss at home to Korea Republic and once again Ill-disciplined cost them as they were punished for an early red card. Getting a positive result here will be important to get back on track ahead of the next round.

It will be interesting to see how motivated both teams are early in this match. Our sense is that with the party atmosphere in the stadium and nothing riding on this match, that a low-scoring affair lies in store and the unders is our preferred play in this one.

Jordan vs Iraq tip: Under 2.5 total goals
