We tipped Jonny Tata to upset the odds and defeat Ritchie Edhouse in the first round, and the New Zealander duly obliged with 3-0 victory against his out-of-form opponent.
The DPNZ Pro Tour ranking leader averaged just under 90 in his victory, but is capable of more and we could see the best of him in this second-round encounter.
His opponent, Ryan Meikle, produced a similar average in his own whitewash victory over Jesus Salate, where he restricted his opponent to just one leg.
'The Barber' was impressive on his doubles, with over half of his attempts on the outer ring finding the target, and he will now look to make it into the third round at Ally Pally for the first time in his career.
This looks a close-run thing. In the scoring department, Tata definitely had the edge in their respective first-round encounters, and we fancy the New Zealander to edge a close game.
