Italy vs Burkina Faso prediction

Group A winners Italy extended their perfect record in this tournament so far to played five and won five after getting the better of Uzbekistan in a 3-2 thriller to book their place in the last eight. Burkina Faso meanwhile, fresh off their high-profile win over Germany, needed a penalty shootout to eliminate Uganda following a hard-fought 1-1 draw.

The biggest worry at this point from a Burkina Faso perspective has to be fatigue. That round of 16 tie no doubt took a huge amount out of their players and with a short turnaround between fixtures, it will be really hard for them to reach those high-performance levels once again. Their rock-solid backline will give them a chance though and Italy won’t get many in the way of clear-cut opportunities. But this steely young Azzurri side have overcome every obstacle they’ve face so far and are well worth backing to do so again, with under 3.5 goals scored in 90 minutes.

Italy vs Burkina Faso tip: Italy to win and under 3.5 goals
