Inter Milan preview: Impressive Inter
Internazionale come into this one on the back of a comfortable 2-0 defeat against Parma with Cristian Chivu easily defeating his former side at the Ennio Tardini, courtesy of goals late in either half from Federico Dimarco and then Marcus Thuram.
The Nerazzurri now sit three points clear at the top-of-the-table, ahead of city rivals AC Milan and four clear of Napoli. They have been surprisingly impressive and competent at the very top following the appointment of Chivu in the summer.
Napoli preview: Hard for the Neapolitans
Last season, Napoli eased into the Antonio Conte mould of doing things. They were not that enjoyable to watch for the neutral but they still managed to clinch the Serie A title ahead of a season so far of frustration, whinging and underperformance in Europe.
The Neapolitans endured a very tough midweek as they shared a 2-2 draw with a struggling Hellas Verona side at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, having to fight back from going 2-0 down inside 27 minutes.
Inter Milan team news: Frattesi a doubt
There is one fresh concern for Inter to deal with this weekend as Italy international midfielder Davide Frattesi is a doubt now, alongside veteran defender Matteo Darmian.
Predicted XI (3-5-2): Sommer; Bisseck, Akanji, Carlos Augusto; Luis Henrique, Sucic, Calhanoglu, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Esposito, Lautaro Martinez
Unavailable: Di Gennaro (Injured), Palacios (Injured), Dumfries (Injured)
Questionable: Darmian (Injured), Frattesi (Injured)
Napoli team news: David Neres a doubt
Former Ajax winger David Neres is now a doubt for Napoli this weekend, with key midfielders Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa and Kevin De Bruyne remaining sidelined for the visitors.
Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Milinkovic-Savic; Di Lorenzo, Rrahmani, Buongiorno; Politano, Lobotka, McTominay, Miguel Gutierrez; Elmas, Lang; Hojlund
Unavailable: Anguissa (Injured), De Bruyne (Injured), Lukaku (Injured)
Questionable: Beukema (Injured), Gilmour (Injured), David Neres (Injured)
Inter Milan vs Napoli prediction
Serie A has been a lot more entertaining than many perceive or expect it to be but it would be fair to suggest that this season has seen a massive regression back to the previous norm of more defensive and safety first football, especially in the final third. That is again expected to be the case here in what is likely to be a nervy top-of-the-table clash in Milan.
