Internazionale have been surprisingly impressive once again in Serie A so far this season as the Nerazzurri now welcome a struggling Lecce side to San Siro this midweek.

Inter Milan preview: Title challenging Inter

Former Parma boss Cristian Chivu had his appointment at Internazionale in the summer greeted by much scepticism but the Nerazzurri are heading into the second-half of the season sitting three points clear at the top-of-the-table.

They head into this one on the back of a 2-2 draw with defending champions Napoli at San Siro at the weekend in a game in which they twice took the lead, via Federico Dimarco and Hakan Calhanoglu, only to be pegged back by a Scott McTominay brace.

Lecce preview: Struggling Lecce

Under the management of former Roma boss Eusebio Di Francesco, who has been relegated in each of the last two seasons with Frosinone and then with Venezia, Lecce are hovering just above the bottom three and the relegation places.

The Apulia-based outfit succumbed to a 2-1 defeat at home to fellow strugglers Parma at Stadio Comunale Via del Mare at the weekend, going down to nine men in the second-half after going ahead within the first minute of the match.

Inter Milan team news: Calhanoglu a doubt

Key man, as Scott McTominay pointed out in the aftermath of their 2-2 draw on Sunday evening, Hakan Calhanoglu is now an injury doubt for Inter as he deals with a calf issue.

Predicted XI (3-5-2): Sommer; Bisseck, Akanji, Bastoni; Luis Henrique, Zielinski, Sucic, Barella, Dimarco; Lautaro Martinez, Thuram

Unavailable: Di Gennaro (Injured), Josep Martinez (Injured), Palacios (Injured), Darmian (Injured), Dumfries (Injured)

Questionable: Calhanoglu (Injured)

Lecce team news: Couple of suspensions

Lameck Banda and Kialonda Gaspar were the two men sent off for Lecce down in Apulia the other day and so those are both missing through suspension ahead of the trip to San Siro.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Falcone; Veiga, Siebert, Tiago Gabriel, Ndaba; Kaba, Ramadani, Maleh; Pierotti, Stulic, N’Dri

Unavailable: Jean (Injured), Gaspar (Suspended), Pierret (Injured), Berisha (Injured), Tete Morente (Injured), Banda (Suspended), Camarda (Injured)

Questionable:

Inter Milan vs Lecce prediction

Internazionale have found ‘big games’ tough this season and they have had an issue in the derby against Milan, as well as bigger UEFA Champions League clashes. Even failing to beat a beleaguered Napoli side at the weekend was another example of that. Lecce head to San Siro as a team that do not necessarily represent a ‘big game’, though, and they are the type of opposition that Inter have made light work of so far this season.
