Inter Milan preview: UCL humiliation
Having been runners’ up in two of the last three campaigns in the UEFA Champions League, Inter have now been humiliated by a knockout playoff round elimination at the hands of Bodo/Glimt with a 5-2 aggregate loss to the Norwegians.
The Nerazzurri tried to win the treble at the back end of last season but got overwhelmed and collapsed in all three competitions and so it may well do Cristian Chivu a favour for Inter to focus just on the Italian league title.
Genoa preview: Fighting Genoa
Daniele De Rossi replaced Patrick Vieira in early-to-mid-November and it immediately led to a much-needed improvement for the visitors. They are pushing themselves away from the bottom three and the relegation places.
The visitors come into this one on the back of an impressive 3-0 hammering of Torino at the Luigi Ferraris last weekend, courtesy of strikes from Brooke Norton-Cuffy, Caleb Ekuban and Junior Messias.
Inter Milan team news: Bastoni suspended
Alessandro Bastoni is missing through suspension for Inter, while fellow key starter Lautaro Martinez is unavailable due to a calf injury, too.
Predicted XI (3-5-2): Sommer; Bisseck, De Vrij, Akanji; Luis Henrique, Frattesi, Zielinski, Sucic, Dimarco; Thuram, Esposito
Unavailable: Bastoni (Suspended), Lautaro Martinez (Injured)
Questionable: Calhanoglu (Injured)
Genoa team news: A few doubts
The aforementioned Norton-Cuffy, formerly of Arsenal, is now a doubt due to a thigh injury for Genoa alongside both Benjamin Siegrist and Sebastian Otoa.
Predicted XI (3-5-2): Biljow; Marcandalli, Ostigard, Johan Vasquez; Junior Messias, Frendrup, Malinovskyi, Ellertsson, Caricol; Colombo, Vitinha
Unavailable:
Questionable: Siegrist (Injured), Otoa (Injured), Norton-Cuffy (Injured)
Inter Milan vs Genoa prediction
That aforementioned impressive win for the Genovese against Torino means that the visitors have now succumbed to just two defeats in their last nine matches in the calendar year of 2026. Inter remain firm favourites as they have made light work of the bottom-half of Serie A this season but the visitors will be confident of ensuring they make things awkward for the hosts.
